Facebook recently launched local awareness ads in its advertising platform. To set these up go to the Advertising Manager to create a new campaign. You want to select the option labelled “reach people near your business”

Enter the page you wish to run your ad to. Now the good thing now is if you have an actual physical location you can target people around that area. For instance if you had a personal training facility and wanted to target people who lived within a set radius of your location. So here I have entered my postcode and can now target people around that postal code. You have options from 1 mile up to a 50 mile radius.  Then enter your audience demographics. So if you had a female only bootcamp for ages 40 plus. Enter here woman and 40-65+. For the purpose of this experiment I have selected a 3 mile radius of my address to women ages 40-65+. This is now telling me I will be targeting 76,000 people in my local area.

Next set your budget. I will leave that bit up to you. Add an eye catching image. My go to tool for creating images is Canva. Make sure you use less than 20% text in the image or your ad will get declined. Next add the main party of your ad copy, you have 90 characters to get creative here. Add an eye catching headline, you only have 25 characters to play with here.

Select the call to action labelled “call now”. This will add a pop up to your ad allowing your prospect to call you directly from the ad.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image admin_label=”Image” src=”https://the-social-media-concierge.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/local-awareness-1.jpg” show_in_lightbox=”off” url_new_window=”off” animation=”left” sticky=”off” align=”left” force_fullwidth=”off” always_center_on_mobile=”on” use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid” /][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid”]

You can add further information in the “advanced options”. I’ve added a further prompt that I do a Facebook Ads review service.

Hit the green button “place order” and you are good to go when Facebook authorise the ad.

Thank for sharing this Claire, I can see it will have great potential for retailers who wish to connect with local customers.
