How To Install The Facebook Pixel Tester

How To Install The Facebook Pixel Helper.

Once you have installed your Facebook Pixel on the relevant pages on your website, you are going to need to test that it is firing correctly. You can use the Facebook Pixel Helper to do this, you’ll have to first make sure that the web browser Chrome is installed on your computer.

Click here to add The Chrome Facebook Pixel Helper.

Please install this on your Chrome Browser to check your pixel is firing.

After you have installed it, open your website with your Chrome browser. Then click on the Pixel Helper icon. The icon will appear in your browser as a symbol like this </>

Take this website as an example. I’ve clicked on the Pixel Checker and it’s telling me there is a pixel firing. When you click on this a pop up will appear and tell you if there is a pixel there. It should say there is a pixel installed called “page views”. We will cover standard event pixels in another blog.

Troubleshooting Pixel Problems

The Facebook Pixel Helper also reports common errors. This will be shown by a red triangle and denotes your webmaster needs to fix something in order to use the Facebook pixel properly.

1. Pixel Did Not Load

This error means that the Pixel Helper found what looks to be a Facebook pixel code on your site, but the actual HTTP call was never made.

This could typically be due to an error in the code, but could also occur if the pixel fires on a dynamic event (e.g. on a button click).

In that case, the error will disappear upon clicking on the button.

2. Not A Standard Event

This warning means that the Pixel Helper found an event that is not one of the Standard Events.

For example, the event is named Purchased instead of Purchase. Please use one of the standard events. We are covering what these are in another blog!

3. Invalid Pixel ID

This error means that the sent ID for the pixel did not match a known pixel ID in our system.
